HIP HOP HAMBURG
e.V.
On
the 1st of June '89 I started offering an open programme for
children and youngsters for the TREFF association in a loghouse
close to the underground station Uhlandstrasse. The location
of this house was ideal for this project since the nearby playground
could be incorporated and the number of rooms allowed holding
meetings in small groups with their individual activities as
well as bigger meetings. Still, it was but a provisional solution
since the building was standing on city park-ground without
permit. The Graffiti Project was put into reality by a youngster
from Hohenfelde, who was looking for a legal wall to write on
for himself and his friends. Later the commutertrain surfers
joined the group. The location of the loghouse and the enormous
mobility of the sprayers were the reasons why the project grew
quickly from regional to interregional and finally international
level.
